Spinning forming technology is a process method that uses tools to continuously apply pressure to a very small part of the workpiece, gradually forming it. This technology is mainly used for producing thin-walled rotating workpieces, especially suitable for manufacturing complex shaped parts.

Technical principles

Spinning forming technology uses the feed motion of tools such as spinning wheels to apply pressure to rotating metal blanks (metal sheets or pipes), causing continuous local plastic deformation and forming the desired hollow rotating body parts. This process has the characteristics of low forming force, simple forming tools, small dimensional tolerances, high material utilization, low cost, and excellent product performance, making it easy to achieve product lightweighting and flexibility.

Classification

Spinning forming technology is mainly divided into the following types:

Ordinary spinning: During the ordinary spinning process, the metal blank undergoes shrinkage or expansion in diameter, while the wall thickness remains unchanged or slightly changes. Suitable for processing products with simple shapes such as cylindrical parts and hemispherical bodies, widely used in the civilian field.

Power spinning: During the process of power spinning, the shape and wall thickness of the metal blank will significantly change. Suitable for processing various complex shapes such as cylindrical, conical, and irregular shells, mainly used in industries such as aerospace, shipbuilding, nuclear industry, chemical industry, etc.

Internal spinning and external spinning: According to the relative position between the spinning wheel and the blank, internal spinning is to place the core mold inside the workpiece, while external spinning is to place the core mold outside the workpiece.

Cold spinning and heating spinning: Cold spinning is performed at room temperature and is suitable for most metal materials; Heat spinning is used for some refractory metals with poor plasticity at room temperature, such as titanium, tungsten, molybdenum, etc.
